Offensive Back of the Week
Kandres Soto, Lawrence | The Lawrence High senior had a big opening day as he rushed 23 times for 193 yards which included three touchdowns in the Cardinals 35-12 win over Princeton.


Offensive Lineman of the Week
Cameron Burns, Robbinsville | Robbinsville's senior center played both ways (C and LB) in a 29-6 loss to Montgomery, providing consistently aggressive play on both sides of the ball.


Defensive Back of the Week
Anthony Famiglietti, Princeton | Despite losing to Lawrence, Princeton's junior linebacker had 12 tackles, including 4 solo, and a big hit on a QB blitz that caused a poor throw at end of 1st half and played with tremendous effort throughout the game.


WEEK 1 HONOREES . . .

Offensive Back of the Week
Brett Spearnock, Notre Dame | Spearnock stepped in at quarterback for the first time since his freshman year and proceeded to go 14-for-19 for 138 yards and 1 TD. The Notre Dame senior also added 3 rushes for 10 yards and 1 TD in the Irish's 42-13 win over Allentown.


Offensive Lineman of the Week
Colin James, Steinert | James had a big game on both sides of the ball as he helped pave the way for 167 yards rushing. The senior also had a key blocked extra point that prevented the game from being tied and swung momentum Steinert's way. Defensively, he added 10 total tackles from his DT position as the Spartans defeated Ewing, 21-13.


Defensive Lineman of the Week
Luke Reilly, Hopewell Valley | Reilly, a senior, led Hopewell Valley with 7 tackles, including 3 for a loss, in the Bulldogs' 35-6 victory against Lawrence.


Defensive Back of the Week
T'Andrew Jamison, West Windsor-Plainsboro | WWP's junior defensive back known as "TJ" had 7 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a pass break-up to lead the defensive effort. He also had 2 kick returns for 58 total yards and caught a pass that covered 57 yards as WWP defeated Hamilton West, 20-7.


Special Teams Player of the Week
Brianna Saragih, Hightstown | Hightstown's senior kicker was a perfect 5/5 on PATs and was solid on kickoffs as the Rams notched a 35-12 victory over Trenton.


WEEK 2 HONOREES . . .

Offensive Back of the Week
Peyton Cosover, Lawrenceville School | Lawrenceville School's senior quarterback threw for 441 yards and an astonishing 7 touchdowns in the Big Red's 47-33 win over Gilman (Md.)


Offensive Lineman of the Week
Zach Aamland, Hun School | Hun's senior offensive tackle allowed zero pressures, had five pancake blocks and helped paved the way for the Raiders 550-plus yards of offense in a 49-6 win over Royal Imperial Collegiate (Canada).


Defensive Lineman of the Week
Jack Callahan, Princeton | Princeton's senior defensive end and team captain, coming off a broken leg that ended his 2021 season, recorded 7 tackles, 2 QB pressures and 1 INT against Haddon Township. He also returned a kickoff 12 yards. Jack anchors the LT spot on offense and is the Tigers' PAT snapper.


Defensive Back of the Week
James Stills, Hamilton West | Hamilton West's senior linebacker enjoyed a 13-tackle day which included 4 solo tackles and 2 tackles for loss, as the Hornets defeated Trenton 14-6 to pick up their first win of the young season.


Special Teams Player of the Week
Greg Casimir, Steinert | Steinert's K/P helped the Spartans move to 2-0 after an exceptional night against Allentown as he was 2 for 2 on PATs and kicked 3 touchbacks. He converted 2 for 4 on field goals, hitting a 37-yard field goal and a 47-yarder which tied a school record set in 2003 by Mark Bencivengo. Unfortunately, he had another FG blocked and lined up for a 48 yarder but missed inches wide left. Casimir also got the team a turnover on a free kick after a safety when his booming kick hit the ground and came back to the Spartans on the bounce.

Offensive Back of the Week
Justin Klotz, Hopewell Valley | The Bulldogs' dynamic sophomore wide receiver hauled in 11 catches for 300 yards and six touchdowns as Hopewell Valley posted a 54-19 win over Hamilton West.


Offensive Lineman of the Week
Pablo Serrano, Hightstown | The Rams' Junior guard helped pave the way for 350 yards of offense, including 195 on the ground in Hightstown's 28-7 win over Lawrence.


Defensive Lineman of the Week
Prince Oghogho, Nottingham | The Northstars' junior defensive tackle had 4 tackles, 4 TFLs and added a sack in Nottingham's 41-6 win against Trenton.


Defensive Back of the Week
Nicholas "Red" Franzen, Notre Dame | The Irish's senior safety had a great game with 7 total tackles, 2 solos and 2 TFL while doing a great jobHe did a great of containing by never letting anyone get the edge in Notre Dame's shutout win over Ewing.


Special Teams Player of the Week
Dan Cruz, Allentown | The Redbirds junior kick returner had an 81-yard kickoff return for a TD to start the second half of Allentown's win against Robbinsville. Cruz also added 85 yards rushing, 35 yards receiving and finished with 3 total TDs.


WEEK 4 HONOREES . . .

Offensive Back of the Week
Marco Lainez, Hun School | Hun's senior quarterback was 15-for-19 for 353 yards and 4 TDs. He also added 3 rushes for 42 yards in the Raiders' 41-0 victory over Salisbury School.


Offensive Lineman of the Week
Nick Csillan, Notre Dame | Notre Dame's senior left tackle anchored the offensive line once again in the Irish's 28-9 win over Robbinsville. His strong pass and run blocking allowed the offensive unit to rack up 393 yards and 4 touchdowns.


Defensive Lineman of the Week
Daniel Gredell, Peddie School | Peddie's senior defensive tackle had six tackles, two TFL and a sack as the Falcons defeated Kiski School (Pa.) 40-29.


Defensive Back of the Week
Matthew Surtz, Robbinsville | Robbinsville's outside linebacker had 11 total tackles on the night, 9 solo, and recorded a safety in the 2nd quarter to close pull the Ravens within 5 late in the 2nd quarter. He also had 15 carries for 110 yards and 1 TD, caught 4 passes for 23 yards, and was 1 for 1 passing with a 33-yard completion. In all, he accounted for 166 total yards from scrimmage.


Special Teams Player of the Week
Jose Ovalle-Ayala, Ewing | Ewing's junior kicker was a perfect 5 for 5 on extra points and also had two kickoffs which were fumbled by the return team and recovered by the kicking team as the Blue Devils defeated Lawrence 35-0.


WEEK 5 HONOREES . . .

Offensive Back of the Week
Luke Wiedau, Allentown | Allentown's junior quarterback completed 9 of 12 passes for 268 yards, tossed four TD passes, and also had 10 rushes for 150 yards and two TDs in the Redbirds' win over Lawrence.


Offensive Lineman of the Week
Andrew Rowan, Hopewell Valley | Hopewell Valley's senior guard anchored an offensive line which produced over 300 yards of offense as the Bulldogs remained unbeaten with a 34-32 win over Nottingham.


Defensive Lineman of the Week
Tyler Bock, Pennington School | Pennington's senior defensive end had 4 tackles, 7 sacks, and 1 forced fumble in a dominant performance that shut down the New Hope-Solebury offense. The Red Raiders' co-captain also had 5 receptions for 103 yds with 1 TD and a 2-pt conversion.


Defensive Back of the Week
Charly Mullaly, Peddie School | Peddie's senior strong safety led the Falcons' defense with 5 TFL and 1 interception, which he returned for a TD, against Germantown Academy.


Special Teams Player of the Week
Hunter Shipley, Robbinsville | Robbinsville's senior kicker wears #62 since he is a defensive lineman who took over kicking duties when the Ravens' starting kicker left Week 1 with a season-ending injury. He booted 3 perfect PATs on the night and averaged 45 yards per kickoff in the win over Steinert.


WEEK 6 HONOREES . . .

Offensive Back of the Week
Keon Kenner, Pennington School | Pennington's sophomore running back turned in a dominating performance with 26 carries for 291 yards and 4 touchdowns. in the Red Raiders' 38-19 win over George School.


Offensive Lineman of the Week
Ronnie McNulty, Nottingham | Nottingham's senior offensive lineman helped lead a 400-yard rushing attack in the Northstars' 28-15 win over Ewing.


Defensive Lineman of the Week
Owen Wafle, Hun School | Hun's junior defensive tackle had 7 tackles, 1 sack and 3 TFL to anchor a defense which allowed only 6 total yards in the Raiders' 48-7 win over Blair Academy.


Defensive Back of the Week
Raphael Dunn, Lawrenceville School | Lawrenceville's junior strong safety had 10 tackles and 4 assists in Big Red's 31-10 victory over Penn Charter.


Special Teams Player of the Week
Jalen Hunte, West Windsor-Plainsboro | West Windsor-Plainsboro's senior kick returner returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown and also had 3 catches for 109 yards including an 81-yard touchdown in the Knights' 19-12 win over Allentown.

Offensive Back of the Week
Ryan Beske, West Windsor-Plainsboro | West Windsor-Plainsboro's junior running back had 14 rushes for 110 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Knights' 25-7 win over Princeton.


Offensive Lineman of the Week
Christian Macaluso, Allentown | Allentown's sophomore left tackle anchored an offensive line that ran for 10 yards-per-carry, and he had multiple pancakes in the Redbirds' 35-8 win over New Egypt.


Defensive Lineman of the Week
Harry Lynch, Lawrenceville School | Lawrenceville's senior nose tackle had 5 tackles, 2 assists, 3 TFLs and 1 sack in the Big Red's 48-15 road victory over rival Peddie.


Defensive Back of the Week
Luke Sutphen, Hun School | Hun's junior linebacker led a Raiders' defense which allowed negative 16 yards against Hill School with 5 solo tackles, 4 assists and 3 tackles for loss.


Special Teams Player of the Week
Gio Brogle, Lawrence | Lawrence's senior punter carried a 40.8 yard average on 4 punts despite the Cardinals' loss to Bordentown.


WEEK 8 HONOREES . . .

Offensive Back of the Week
Timmy McKeown, Hopewell Valley | Hopewell's senior quarteback completed 15 of 19 passes for 224 yards and threw for 4 touchdowns as the Bulldogs remained unbeaten with a 53-21 win over Notre Dame.


Offensive Lineman of the Week
Jack Lambert, Steinert | Steinert's senior tackle has been one of, if not the best, lineman in the county in 2022. A leader on both sides of the ball who never comes off the field, he helped pave the way for over 225 yards rushing in the game and had 8 total tackles and 1 TFL in the Spartans' 31-7 victory over Lawrence.


Defensive Lineman of the Week
Dorian Williams, Ewing | Ewing's senior defensive end had 9 tackles, 5 solo tackles, 4 TFLs, 3 sacks and a forced fumble in the Blue Devils' 31-14 win over Trenton.


Defensive Back of the Week
Evan Pease, Princeton | Princeton's junior outside linebacker had 6 tackles, including 1 sack for a 14-yard loss, 2 TFLs totaling 17 yards, and added a fumble recovery in the Tigers' win over Palmyra. He demonstrated tremendous speed rallying to the ball carrier during the entire game.


Special Teams Player of the Week
Marcus Gaffney, Pennington School | Pennington's senior punter and co-captain averaged close to 40 yards a punt and was key in keeping the Peddie offense at bay in the Red Hawks' 14-13 win over the Falcons. He also had a key catch for 20 yards and has been an important contributor at linebacker in 2022.


WEEK 9 HONOREES . . .

Offensive Back of the Week
Isaiah Harrison, Ewing | Ewings's senior running back had 21 carries for 153 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Blue Devils knocked off Neptune 34-20. He also added 4 tackles on defense.


Offensive Lineman of the Week
Sebastian Leigh, Robbinsville | Playing both ways at RT and DE, Robbinsville's junior right tackle had a great day blocking for a 244-yard passer and a 120-yard rusher in the Ravens' 34-29 loss to Carteret.


Defensive Lineman of the Week
Ben Clabbers, Pennington School | Pennington's senior defensive tackle continued to be a dominating presence with 8 tackles, most coming on pursuit tackles up and down the line, in the Red Hawks' 42-13 win against Morrisville.


Defensive Back of the Week
Christian Patterson, Hamilton West | Hamilton's junior cornerback had 2 interceptions – returned one for a 54-yard touchdown – to go along with 5 tackles and 2 solos in the Hornets' 14-6 win over Jackson Liberty.


Special Teams Player of the Week
Wyatt Bibber, Steinert | Steinert's senior linebacker and strong safety led the team in special teams tackles in the Spantans' 21-12 win over Cherry Hill East. He also had a completely dominating game on defense – while his stats were not off the charts (7 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, 2 TFL), his effect on the game was incredible. He also added 5 QB hurries.


WEEK 10 HONOREES . . .

Co-Offensive Back of the Week
Kyle Machusak, Hopewell Valley | Hopewell Valley's senior wide receiver had a game-winning 16-yard TD and added the 2-point conversion with 13 seconds left as the Bulldogs defeated Burlington Township, 22-16, in the state playoffs. He finished with 9 catches for 73 yards.


Co-Offensive Back of the Week
Ace Lumpris, Lawrenceville School | Lawrenceville's junior wide receiver had 8 catches for 177 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 56-21 victory over rival Hill School in the Big Red’s season finale.


Defensive Back of the Week
Brendan Buecker, Notre Dame | Notre Dame's senior linebacker was once again all over the field for the Irish. He had 3 solo tackles, 5 total tackles, forced a fumble and deflected a pass in Notre Dame's state playoff game vs. St. Peter's Prep.


2022 PLAYERS OF THE YEAR . . .

Frank "Mammy" Piscopo Memorial Award - Tim McKeown, Hopewell Valley

The senior quarterback and co-captain led his team to a 10-1 record and a trip to the South Jersey Group 3 championship game, becoming only the second Bulldog to receive the "Mammy". Tim broke nearly every school passing record previously held by Austin Fellows and completed his career with an outstanding senior season. He passed for 1,982 yards and 25 touchdowns against just three interceptions and also rushed for 9 scores. With McKeown at the helm, the Bulldogs averaged 32 points per game.

"Tim was the leader of our offense," Hopewell Valley head coach Dave Caldwell said about his signal-caller. "His ability to read defenses, get rid of the ball on time and move in the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield was a key to our success and 10-1 record. Tim gave our entire program the confidence that we could compete in every game we played. During his career, he has led us in some come from behind wins and last-minute game winning drives."


Charles J. "Fuzzy" Falzone Memorial Award - Luke Reilly, Hopewell Valley


The senior co-captain dominated both sides of the line for the Bulldogs with his 6-foot-3, 280- pound frame, becoming the third Bulldog lineman in five seasons to receive the "Fuzzy". He spearheaded an offensive line that paved the way for a balanced attack – Hopewell Valley finished with 1,978 passing yards and 1,886 yards on the ground – and was just an impactful as a defender. He used his strength and quickness to amass 65 total tackles, 23 solo tackles, 26 assisted tackles, 2 sacks, 12 tackles for a loss, 2 caused fumble, 1 recovered fumble and a blocked kick.

"Luke was the most dominant lineman on the field in every game we played this season," said Caldwell. "He is a two-way player and rarely came off the field. On offense, if we needed a first down we would run behind Luke. Luke is the most physically impressive and dominant player in the history of our program. He played mean and took pride in dominating the man in front of him."


Prep Player of the Year - Marco Lainez, Hun School


The senior quarterback followed up his remarkable junior campaign with an even better performance, earning the award for the second straight season. Marco was 97 of 116 for 2,182 yards – averaging 22.5 yards per completion – with a 78% completion percentage to lead the Raiders to a second-straight 9-0 record. He had 23 TD passes against only 5 interceptions. He also had 573 yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground. The University of Iowa commit was a three-year starter and led the Raiders to 20 straight wins to end his high school career.

"Marco is an electric athlete who plays quarterback," said Hun head coach Todd Smith. "He is 6- 2, 220 pounds and is one of the most physical players on the team. Our team is loaded with talent, and on the offensive side of the ball, Marco is without question our most talented player."


Prep Lineman of the Year - Owen Wafle, Hun School

Hun's 2022 defense was the best in school history and the dominant performance started with the 6-3, 291-pound junior defensive lineman. Owen had 11 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, 56 total tackles, 5 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries and 38 QB hurries. The Raiders' varsity defense allowed only 27 points and held opponents to a whopping negative -211 yards rushing. Owen has received offers from over 20 Power 5 schools and has given a verbal commitment to University of Notre Dame.

"Owen is a force to be dealt with each week," Smith said. "There is no question he is big, but he also often times is the quickest and strongest kid on the field as well. To put it simply, Owen affects every play that is run by the other team’s offense. Run or pass it doesn’t matter – he changes the outcomes of the play."
